Websites
It might be costing you work and you don't even realize it
When I tell actors to prioritize their website, usually they take that bit of info and build a website and say they’re done. They did it and now the box is ticked and they presume I’ll stop bugging them about it. But what they usually don’t think about is what that website means.
Not whether it’s pretty. Not whether you like the colors. Not whether your headshot is “cute enough.” Whether it’s actually doing its job.
I took a look at 100 websites and I found that most commonly, the websites were in fact NOT doing their job, but simply existing. And that’s not enough.
Casting directors, agents, producers, creative directors, and corporate clients are Googling you. They land on your site, look around, and then they make a decision.
Stay… or leave.
And more often, I’m betting they leve and don’t convert. And this has nothing to do with your talent or your audio or even because the “industry is unfair or oversaturated or mysterious." They leave because your website isn’t guiding them toward hiring you. The next steps are’t clear or the demo is burried or they can’t tell what kind of actor you are or maybe the bradning feels inconsistent or doesn’t instill trust. So they click away. And you never even know it happened.
So this week is WEBSITE WEEK and I will be posting every day this week about how to make your website WORK.
Your website is a conversion tool
It should answer three questions immediately:
What do you sound like?
What do you specialize in?
How do I hire you right now?
If a buyer has to dig or guess…or if they have to “figure you out”… They won’t. They’ll move on to the next voice actor whose site makes the decision easy.
This isn’t about aesthetics. It’s really about user behavior and clarity...and of course trust.
That’s why I’m hosting this $5 masterclass:
On March 23rd at 7:30 pm EST, I’m hosting a live training:
Build a Voice Actor Website That Actually Converts
Inside this session, I’m going to walk you through:
What casting directors actually look for (not what actors assume they look for)
The most common website mistakes I see over and over
How to structure your homepage so buyers don’t bounce
Where demos should live (this one surprises people)
How to create a clear buyer journey
The subtle messaging tweaks that make you feel more “bookable”
We’ll also look at real voice actor websites together in real time so you can see exactly what’s working and what isn’t. You won’t leave with vague “inspiration” because let’s be fuckin for real, that doesn’t help you take action.
You’ll leave with a practical checklist you can use to optimize (or completely rebuild) your site. Because this is about being FUNCTIONAL.

Feel free to do my website. I'm a web developer as well but I never have time to tweak my own site. https://voiceoverthespian.com
