Ah, December. That magical month when everything feels URGENT, exciting, and overwhelming all at once. Between holiday prep, wrapping up projects (and prezzies, duh), and dreaming about next year, it’s easy to fall into two traps:

  1. Trying to do all the things and burning out.

  2. Doing nothing because it feels impossible to know where to start.

You don’t need to tackle everything before the clock strikes midnight on December 31. That’s an unhelpful and arbitrary way to strategize. You just need to focus on the right things—the activities that will actually move the needle for your voiceover career in the year ahead.

Let’s break it down: how to optimize your time, prioritize what matters, and (most importantly) give yourself grace as you go.

1. Choose progress over perfection

First, let’s agree on something: there’s no such thing as the “perfect” end-of-year wrap-up. Your to-do list is a tool, not a scoreboard. If you’re obsessing over checking every box, you’re probably missing the point.

Instead of trying to finish everything, ask yourself:

  • What’s one small action I can take today that will make a big difference next year?

  • Which unfinished projects or goals are actually worth carrying into January?

The answers will help you focus on meaningful progress rather than perfection.

Remember, it’s better to do ONE thing each day than NOTHING.
